“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”—Psalm 19:1-6 (NIV)

Aurora Borealis

All my life I have wanted to witness the glory and majesty of the Northern Lights. A couple of weeks ago I had this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—from my backyard in Washington state, no less!

The news station announced this forthcoming phenomenon. However, I failed to note the time of the event, and went to bed without waiting and watching.

The following day, our neighbors oohed and ahhed over what they had seen from their decks and produced cell phone photos of this spectacular experience.

Sadly and regrettably, I had missed seeing our Creator in His glory—this time anyway.

God Reveals Himself Through Creation

Not a day goes by without my eyes beholding God through His creation. As the Psalm declares, day after day the skies proclaim the work of His hands. This I see in the sun, the clouds, the stars, storms, and rainbows.

David writes that all these things reveal knowledge without words. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth—to the ends of the world.

So it is that I see God in His creation.

God Also Makes Himself Known Through His Word

So, although I missed catching sight of the Aurora Borealis, thank heavens I see God daily in all He has created and has spoken through the Bible.

In scriptures I see God as Love, Truth, Healer, Helper, Provider, Deliverer, and so much more.

The Ultimate Revelation of God

However, the ultimate revelation of God is Jesus, Who came to earth to die for me that I may have life eternal with Him.

I see this clearly.

What do you see when you look for God?

Prayer:  Lord God, Creator of heaven and earth, I pray that each of those who read this message will not miss a single revelation of Who You Are. Reveal Yourself fully to each one so that Your Name will be glorified, and each person will receive the blessing of seeing and knowing you intimately. Amen.

Thought for the Day:  “In seeing God, we will see everything else clearly. For the first time.”—Randy Alcorn
